Sunny Hirai is the founder and CEO of Orbs.com. Previous to Orbs.com, Sunny co-founded and was the Chief Technology Officer at Suite101.com, the first web publishing platform on the Internet. In 1999, he left Suite101 to start his own business MeZine Inc.
Under MeZine, Sunny launched CityMax.com, a paid subscription site that gives entrepreneurs everything they need to create a successful online business. Sunny did all the original programming and served as CEO. In 2007, Sunny switched his focus to Orbs.com, a new MeZine division, and left the management of CityMax to his co-founder Dean Gagnon.
Sunny graduated from the small business entrepreneurship program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He is a self-taught programmer and has written software in C#, Ruby, ColdFusion, Java, Lua, Pascal, Delphi and many other languages. He is also highly involved as an Assistant Organizer with the Vancouver Ruby/Rails Meetup Group. Additionally, Sunny is accomplished in graphic design, marketing and copywriting.
Sunny is currently majority owner and CEO of MeZine. He is married and expecting his first child this fall.
